A mathematical census of 39.8 million construction pieces across 17 historical eras. This analysis explains why players discover hundreds of build albums on their thread, and measures the true distribution of solo pioneering, co-op megaprojects, and wilderness exploration.

Generated 2026-09-15 from 650,001 spatial clusters and 591,155 credited contributions across eras 1–17. 535 legacy gallery albums (eras 16–17) carry a credit but no piece count, so they sit outside the piece and share arithmetic below. Directory rule: photographed albums always; otherwise a build of at least 20 pieces where the builder placed at least 20 pieces, or at least 5 pieces with a 25% share, or holds a 50% share.

1. The 2D Spread: Build Size vs. Contributor Share %

Every one of the 590,620 measured contribution events in the multi-era archive (535 legacy gallery credits carry no piece count and are excluded), cross-tabulating the scale of the structure against the share of blocks placed by that contributor.

Where player construction effort was actually expended. Compares overall structure size against the exact number of pieces placed by the individual builder.

Distribution percentiles across all 6,128 recorded builders (6,128 carry a piece count; a legacy gallery credit counts as an album but not as pieces). Because the spatial clustering algorithm guarantees zero piece loss by grouping even isolated single pieces into builds, active players accumulate massive album inflation.

The Trailblazer / Nomad

Explores broad swathes of wilderness. Accumulates hundreds or thousands of single-piece albums (campfires, repair benches, portals, torches) with an inflation factor over 50x.

The Homesteader

Concentrates almost all building into 1 to 3 core bases. High lead ownership (>80%), moderate album counts, and a low inflation ratio near 2x to 4x.

The Community Tourist

Travels between established community towns and fortresses, adding small personal touches (chests, crafting stations, beds) with under 5% individual share.

The Long-Term Pioneer

Server veterans active across 4+ eras. Balances deep wilderness exploration trails (300+ utility albums) with 10–25 substantial landmark fortresses.

Cumulative percentage of a builder's lifetime block placement concentrated in their top N builds (analyzed across all 3,104 active builders with ≥500 pieces).

The 97% Rule: A median builder deposits 50.8% of their lifetime effort into a single build, 86.8% across their top 3, and 98.1% across their top 10. Albums beyond the 10th are almost entirely incidental touches or survival remnants.

5. Shared Build Anatomy: Solo Dominance vs. True Co-Op

Analysis of all 59,976 collaborative structures with 2 or more credited contributors. Examines whether multi-player builds are equal partnerships or lead-dominated projects.

Even in massive megastructures (>2,000 pieces), 48.3% are dominated by a single creator with ≥80% share, while true distributed co-op (no single player having ≥50%) represents just 15.8% of builds.

6. Threshold Reduction Curve: Filtering Noise Without Losing History

Setting a simple threshold of ≥20 pieces placed cuts 85.3% of all album noise server-wide while preserving 96.9% of all construction volume and 83.9% of all registered builders. Profiles show the last row: 87,495 qualifying credits, 56,237 distinct albums for 5,141 builders. Searchable identity pages remain for builders whose albums fall below this cutoff; the archive-wide photograph count is unaffected.

7. Photographs & Residency: What the Archive Added Since the Census

The directory publishes 56,471 albums under the rule above. Two things ride an album beyond its credits: photographs, shot by the capture lane on the archive's own world saves, and residency — a bed whose owner slept inside the build's footprint. A bed is residency, not credit: residents never enter the tables above.
